Everyone’s needs and specific components are different, but I’ll provide details about my particular setup to show how I Chromecast Netflix from my Windows Dell XPS tower PC to a Samsung LED TV using headphones by implementing an audio converter. This configuration is perfect for me because I often watch Netflix while I work on my PC. I work using dual monitors while simultaneously casting to my TV for watching shows.
Your components will likely differ and that’s okay. I am listing mine here for reference purposes.
Chromecast – Chromecast is a media streaming device that plugs into the HDMI port on your TV. You can buy them at Walmart, Best Buy, and other retailers for around $35.
Dell XPS Tower – There are a variety shown here. Mine is a Dell XPS X8700-1880BLK Desktop, but I would suggest getting a newer model if you are in the market for a tower. Most modern devices are sufficient for casting so you certainly don’t need a tower.
Samsung UN40EH5000 40-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED TV – Excellent TV, crystal clear and without issues. Again, you may want a newer model.
Over-Ear Headphones – I’m just showing a variety of “over-ear headphones” for best listening quality.
Orei DA21 Optical SPDIF/Coaxial Digital to RCA L/R Analog Audio Converter with 3.5mm Jack Support Headphone/Speaker Outputs – You need this audio converter to connect headphones to certain televisions. Below I’ll show you how this is connected. I also bought a headphone audio cable that reaches all the way across the room.
How to setup Chrome to Samsung LED TV, connect audio headphones, cast Netflix to TV, etc.
1. Plug Chromecast (or Chromecast stick) into the HDMI port on your TV. Make sure Chrome is fully seated and has is powered. You can set it up here using your phone or tablet. Note: Make sure your TV is tuned to the appropriate mode/source so that you see the Chromecast splash screen.
3. Open your browser and log into Netflix. Start a video you want to watch and click the icon as indicated to cast the content.
4. Want headphones to your TV to listen to Netflix streaming from your PC? Install the Orei DA21 Optical SPDIF/Coaxial Digital to RCA L/R Analog Audio Converter with 3.5mm Jack Support Headphone/Speaker Outputs to your TV and headphones. You will need (a) a digital audio optical cable, (b) an Orei DA21, and (c) headphones. Follow the images below.
