How to Open Cookie Files

The instructions are below to find the cookies folder, view, open and check cookie files in Internet Explorer (IE).

Follow these simple steps to find, view, open and check cookie files.

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Choose Tools from the top menu in the browser and select Internet Options.

3. Within Internet Options, look for the section labeled "Browsing History" and click on Settings - See Figure 1 below.

4. Once Temporary Internet Files and History Settings is open, select View Files to open your cookies folder

5. Double click any of the text files labeled with cookie: to view the contents of the text file - See Figure 3

6. What you will see in your cookie files are long strings of text similar to below but usually stretched-out on one line:
